Lust in the Mirror EP

Release 29.05.2026

The new EP is a clear statement — against rigid gender roles, against societal expectations, and against the feeling of having to adapt in order to be seen. From a FLINTA* perspective, indie pop artist and singer-songwriter Coco Aikura tells stories of empowerment, vulnerability, and the hope that change is possible. Between atmospheric synths, raw indie textures, and an intimate voice, a sound emerges that feels both delicate and determined.

“Lust in the Mirror” breaks away from the male gaze and from the expectation of having to be desirable. The song is about no longer seeing one’s body — and appearance in general — as something to be judged, but rather as something personal, natural, and free. It is about finding beauty within yourself without having to perform it for others. A look at oneself — free from expectations, free from the desire to please.

Written together with Chiara Foschiani and Ema Heber-Suffrin, the song stands for a world in which filters or makeup matter less than the person behind them.

“No One is Watching” tells the story of being alone without feeling lonely. Of quiet moments that do not feel empty, but light. The song describes the freedom of being able to be with yourself without having to explain or prove anything — and of finding peace and self-connection within that.

“The Raft” is about friendships that provide support when everything feels uncertain — but also about the ways people try to cope with pain, overwhelm, or emptiness, sometimes turning to dysfunctional things such as drugs or alcohol. The song moves between comfort and escapism, between honest closeness and the desire to escape everything for just a moment. Written together with Damien Reynolds.

In addition to these three new songs, the EP also includes the previously released tracks “Memories Stay,” “Meine Wut kriegst du nicht,” and a new version of “Bella Ciao.”

The EP combines melancholic indie pop with a warm, hopeful intimacy. It moves between fragility and strength, struggle and new beginnings — music for people who are learning to give themselves space while still not drifting alone.

The EP was produced by Hannes Koch.

Bella Ciao

Release 18.07.2025

With my new single "Bella Ciao", I want to reimagine the iconic resistance anthem as a gentle, multilingual and deeply moving piece. Carried by soft arpeggiated synths, layered vocals and organic indie textures, this version transcends time and borders.Sung in Italian, English, French and German, Bella Ciao becomes a universal hymn — remembering the past, but calling for togetherness now more than ever.

In a world marked by division and fear, I want to show a quiet, yet powerful act of resistance: We belong together.

This is not a nostalgic cover. It is a timely musical manifesto — against hate, silence and separation. And for a future where empathy becomes the loudest voice.

Meine Wut kriegst du nicht

Release 28.03.2025

Memories Stay

Release 21.06.2024

Friendship. Love. Family. We all know the feeling when life's circumstances intervene and what was once most important to us slowly fades into yesterday, last month, last year and beyond. Sometimes memories gently lose their resonance, drowned out by the torrent of our daily lives. We must fight to keep them alive because the idea of losing that group of friends, a lover, or family member means also losing a piece of ourselves.

Memories stay is a song that refuses to forget what we have lived or whom we have loved. A song full of hope that one day we will all be together again.

This song by Damien Reynolds and Coco Aikura was written on a hike in Northern Spain, in the middle of nowhere, when two complete strangers met and became friends - A memory that won’t fade away.

Produced by Caterina Barbieri in Berlin, Memories Stay is Coco Aikura’s first single release after her album “a place called home”

The artwork was designed and painted by Sanjyot Telang on a photograph from Known as Studio.

A Place called Home

Release 21.05.2023

The album "A Place called Home" that includes 11 songs has been recorded with the collaboration of the producer Missincat and was released on the 12th of May 2023.

Through her indie, pop and electro compositions, Coco Aikura delivers an uncompromising portrayal of society with, so to speak, a raw frankness wrapped in the sweetness of her voice and character.

On stage, Coco Aikura juggles between electronic arrangements, acoustic guitar, a drum pad, loops and her synthesizers. We go through the different songs and emotions with her, as she makes the audience participate, in an authentic and benevolent way.

The French music magazine Télérama summarizes it in February 2023: "A record where she lays, in English, French and German, her (beautiful) voice on a low tempo electro-pop, rich in shivering atmosphere and very current texts."

Since March 2022, the artist has released two singles and an EP. With this visibility, she performed on several German festivals (Kulturelle Landpartie, Hamburg Food Festival, ConNext Festival ...), but also on two Parisian dates: at Pan Piper and Pop Up du Label with Chateau Forte and Alice Animal.

Coco Aikura is accompanied by the French publishing house Musigamy and the German press agency Factory 92.
